How do I use a Bamboo Coverlet?

A:  There are many uses for the Coverlet! It can be folded at the foot of the bed, ready to pull up on a chilly night. Or it can be used as a lightweight bedspread in the summer, when a down comforter is too hot.  You can let it hang loose at the sides of the bed, or tuck it into the mattress for a finished look. Some people even use them on the sofa when they want a ‘blanket’ to cover two people during movie-watching.

How do I wash Bamboo Coverlets?

A: Rayon from Bamboo is best cared for by washing in cold or warm water with an eco-friendly liquid detergent, and drying on low to medium heat. Proper washing will extend the life; you can expect to get 5-6+ years from your Coverlet with proper laundering.  Bamboo fabrics have natural bacteria-resistance so if you’re used to using bleach to kill any bacteria, there is no need to do so with bamboo. A great benefit for your health and the environment! You can even iron on high heat and with steam, it will iron beautifully.

Recommended laundry detergents are:  Ecos, Seventh Generation, Meyer's Clean Act, Woolite, Aspen Clean. But if you have a liquid detergent that you like, it will work just fine.

What are Melange Duvet Covers?

A: Melange Duvet Covers and Sheet sets are made from a unique waterless coloring method. This makes the colors rich and true, yet bleachable.  The twisting of the White cotton threads with the Black or Beige bamboo threads is what creates the textured look.  The fabric is also BPO safe, so retinal creams will not stain the linens. The Melange Duvet Cover and Sheet Sets are very comfy and cozy, because of the twill weave and soft feel.

Will the King Duvet fit my Cal King comforter?

A: Yes, it will. We've tried to make the dimensions universal to fit both a King, a Cal King, and a Split King bed. Although a Cal-King comforter size is a little longer and a little more narrow, it should fit the duvet nicely. You may just have a bit of extra fabric draping on the sides of the bed, but it will still fit fine.

What do you put in a Duvet Cover?

A: You can use a down or poly-fil comforter, a blanket, quilt or afghan. In the summer some people like to just insert our BedVoyage lightweight blanket, and in the winter they insert a thick down comforter. But anything you prefer will work just fine!

Should I wash the Bamboo Sheets or Duvet Covers before I use them?

A:  Yes, we highly recommended you wash the bamboo sheets and duvet covers before use. Our linens have been oversized to allow for the first-time shrinkage that occurs when you wash and dry them. Bamboo can shrink up to 4% at the first wash, and you may think the Fitted Sheet is too big if you don't wash them first. Zip the Duvet closed prior to washing to maintain the integrity of the zipper. The buttoned duvets have an extra button sewn inside the bottom of the duvet. This allows you to replace any that fall off or are lost.

Do BedVoyage Duvet Covers have inside ties?

A: Yes, both our 100% Bamboo and our Melange Duvets have corner inside ties. We listened to our customers feedback and this has been requested, so we’ve added ties in summer 2021.  If you’d like to see the easiest way to insert a comforter, view our video.

What is Bamboo Viscose, and Rayon from Bamboo?

A: Both terms are virtually interchangeable and mean ‘the process’ of breaking down the bamboo stalk into a fiber.  Because the end fiber is indistinguishable from other wood pulps (ie; eucalyptus, beech wood, pine, etc) the Federal Trade Commission requires that it be called either viscose, or rayon from bamboo. We've chosen to use both words in describing our fabric so that customers become familiar with either term.  read more.

What detergent do you recommend for Bamboo Sheets?

A: We recommend a mild liquid detergent like Ecos, Mrs. Myers, Woolite, Seventh Generation, ECover, Aspen Clean, or Kirkland Ultra Clean. We do not recommend bleach, fabric softeners, washer balls or dryer sheets/balls. We’ve noticed that harsher detergents can break down the fibers faster, shortening the lifespan of the linens and/or creating tearing at the seams. Its not recommended to use any detergents that say 'Tough on Stains' as they'll be too harsh on fine fabrics.

Can my Bamboo Towels snag? How to fix a snag on Towels?

A: If your Bamboo towel is snagged, simply cut the snag off with sharp scissors, and it won’t continue to snag. Best practice for laundering is not to wash them with things that have zippers, Velcro, or hooks. This will reduce snagging.

Are Bamboo Towels mildew resistant? How to get rid of a mildew scent?

A: Bamboo Towels should never develop the mildew scent like cotton towels do. They are naturally resistant to odor and mildew. But if you ever do notice a mildew scent; you may add vinegar to the laundry pre-soak, and this will kill any bacteria and odors.
