When expecting, you have a million things to prepare for before the baby comes. There are countless products to consider for yourself and baby, and it can simply be overwhelming.

The main take-away’s should be; healthy pregnancy, healthy child, protect yourself and your baby - here are my suggested, healthy alternative “Must-Have’s” for everyday baby staples. All of these items were loved by me and my little one’s and come highly recommended by many eco-conscious moms.

1. Maternity Sheets

The first “Must Have” on the the registry are Maternity sheets. What are these you ask, a GIFT. Comfortable, soothing, cooling sleep throughout the night, if nothing else can help soothe an 8 1/2 month pregnant mom, try, CHANGING THE SHEETS!! The BedVoyage Maternity/Postpartum sheets are undyed 100% bamboo sheets, which are indescribably soft and allows you to sleep cooler as the fabric adjusts to your body’s temperature. Take note, the majority of sheets are covered in formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals, these are not. These bamboo linens are also odor, mildew and stain resistant, great for mothers who are nursing!

2. Diapers

Diapers are a number one must have, yes, diapers. Did you know that for a baby’s first few months of life they will go through about 10 diapers per day on average? It is estimated that 20 billion disposable diapers are added  to landfills throughout the country each year, creating about 3.5 million tons of waste! Don’t add to this number, switch to eco-friendly disposable diapers. Bamboo Nature Classic disposable diapers are environmental friendly diapers that work.

 3. Bamboo Swaddles

The BedVoyage bamboo swaddles are the best because they are lightweight and breathable and perfect for snuggling anytime and anywhere. The 60% rayon from Bamboo/40% cotton Swaddle is as soft as a mother's touch. This do-it-all fabric also goes beyond swaddling, and can be used as a stroller cover, burp cloth, tummy-time blanket, or as a privacy cover when nursing.

4. Bath Essentials

Hooded baby towels and baby washcloths are essentials when it comes to bath time! BedVoyage's Panda Baby Hooded Towel is adorable, soft and over-sized so it will last through the toddler years. The ultra-soft Panda Baby Washcloths are thin enough to clean around tiny fingers and toes and are 4 times more absorbent than cotton, making them perfect for any clean up, from face wipes to little messes. With its hypoallergenic and bacteria-resistant characteristics; BedVoyage’s Panda Baby Hooded Towels and Baby Washcloths are able to help soothe common skin irritants such as allergies, eczema, and psoriasis, making them an essential for baby’s sensitive skin.

5. Gift Essentials

Make sure to include the Gift Essentials Basket from BedVoyage on your baby registry, it is a must for new parents! This set includes all the items new parents need when bringing their bundle of joy home! 2 silky-soft bamboo Crib Sheets, 2 lightweight and breathable bamboo Swaddles, 1 knitted bamboo Baby Blanket, 1 cozy bamboo Hooded Towel, 7 gentle Baby Washcloths and a diaper caddy Panda Basket.

6. Carseat

All babies will need an infant car seat and since they can be pricey, it’s best to include them in your registry. NunaBaby Pipa Lite is a great option because it is easy to take in out of the car and it’s super light and has excellent safety ratings. Don’t forget to register for a car seat base; if you want to transport baby in both cars, you’ll need 2!

7. Stroller

Flexibility means the freedom to go wherever you want together. The stroller can be one of the most expensive items you purchase for baby, but it’s also one of the items you’ll get the most use out of. The NunaBaby MIXX stroller, makes it easy—it’s flexibility is amazing and is a breeze to use. Featuring a no re-thread harness for custom height adjustments and a removable & reversible two-piece seat pad that grows with baby. An ideal set for you, but especially for your little one.

8. Crib

Ahhh the crib, the sleep haven for baby. After researching several different cribs for safety and design, the eco friendly, Sparrow Crib by Oeuf is the winner. The Sparrow Crib is easy to assemble, has a timeless design and is sustainably produced in Europe in an FSC certified facility. The finishes are non-toxic, water-based and free of VOC health hazards.

9. Baby carrier

Baby carriers instantly soothe a fussy baby, allowing you to have both hands free and gives your arms a much needed break– plus, baby will love being snuggled up next to you. The Baby Bjorn is the most appropriate for newborns or babies that easily get overstimulate but can also be used in the forward-facing position. It does not offer back carry, so if you plan to baby wear into toddler-hood, you will need a toddler carrier once your baby outgrows this baby carrier. It does have high-positioned seating which gives your baby an extra snug feeling of closeness.

10. Sound Machine

Make sure this last item is on your list, you will thank me later! Every parent needs sleep, there is no price a parent won’t pay for sleep. The superpowers of a sound machine I’m passing the knowledge on to you.

With all of those items, you are sure to have a comfortable baby, and that means you will be comforted, too!
