I rented a room at a well known hotel in Hurricane Mills, TN. The room was dirty and shabby but I was tired so I used my Clorox wipes I alwayus travel with to clean the toilet and sink. The sink was dirty and had hair in it, but that was nothing compared to the bed! When I got into bed I sat right in a wet spot, upon looking further I was horrified to learn I had sat in someone else's urine! The sheets had a big wet yellow circle on them. Needless to say, I went to the front desk, they didn't give me my money back but gave me another room. I had to repack and move all of my things, and that room was just as dirty! They didn't give me my money back or any kind of compensation, and I'll never get the feeling of sitting in someone else's urine of out my head.

Let me tell you about a peach of an experience! We went to a hotel in Wildwood, NJ. The place was ON the beach, it was supposed to be a wonderful getaway. Right after we checked in, I was checking the place out, and pulled back the retro bedspread. Oh, what a glorious sight! The sheets were so thin that you could see through them... and there were random hairs all over the pillows and sheets. And, there were yellow stains all over them. Obviously I complained immediately and this is where the story gets good: I was told to get out and that I had some nerve complaining after getting a special promotion!! I left, but not after taking dozens of pictures, which were then submitted to my credit card company in conjunction with my dispute of the hotel charge. Yes, that was a super getaway!

My fiance proposed to me the day before he was to leave for military duty, and we had an amazing day with a final celebration at a hotel on the beach. It was a pricey hotel and the entire day my fiance was telling me about it because he was so excited about the room he'd booked us. But we got there and it was a dump! I have asthma so it was important that we got a non-smoking room, but this room reaked like smoke and the sheets were folded up and on the FLOOR!!!! We called the front desk and were informed that we were to make our own bed with the sheets from the floor. We mentioned our non-smoking room request and we were hung up on. It was a nightmare and we ended up sleeping in our car because the room was unbearable for me to sleep in due to my asthma.

The worst experience I ever had with a bed in a hotel was in London, England. My husband and I were about to go to bed when we turned down the comfortor and noticed that there were footprint marks all over the sheets! They had never been changed from the previous occupant, we were so disgusted that we checked out right then and went to another hotel.

Travel with me to a beautiful cabin deep in the woods. My wife and I snuggle into a beautiful wood carved bed in front of a crackling fire. Flash forward to the next morning when our entire family was scratching and had horrible bites all over our bodies! BED BUGS! Our fabulous vacation was ruined by these pesky critters and my wife and I vowed that we would always travel with our own fresh, clean sheets from now on.

My husband and I got a motel room in a rural town in Texas, as our son was attending a Boy Scout camping trip and we stayed nearby in a hotel as semi-chaperones of the camp out. The only motel was not even a 1 star but we had to stay there so we tried to make the best of it. But we kept waking up feeling like something was crawling all over us, we finally got up and turned on the lights and our bed was full of tiny black ants!! We stripped off the bedding and tried to get them out of our bed. We finally went to the lobby to try to get a new mattress or new bedding but there was nobody there, being a tiny town, so we had to sleep on the floor! I was never so happy to see the sun come up and get our stuff and leave.

My worst hotel bed experience actually took place on my wedding night! My husband and I were broke and only had $50.00 for a room. I booked a motel room that I found near the airport. It was located between a bar and a strip joint, and the room had a vibrating bed, when we pulled back the bedspread the sheets looked like they hadn't been washed in many, many nights....and they were so scratchy. We both woke up with a scratchy rash, mine was on my back and my husband's was on his face! Upon further inspection, there were bugs in the bed, which just made us sick to our stomach.

We booked a room in New Orleans and it was scary to say the least - I honestly thought that it was a lived-in room like a boarding room and that they just asked the guy to vacate so we could take it. There were condoms on the floor, porn mags in the drawer and cigarette butts in the toilet, and stained dirty sheets. Needless to say, we moved to another room, but I caught the past occupant peeking in through the key hole of our front door trying to look at my wife!!! We moved to another hotel the next night and will never forget that awful night.

Agter 13 hours of driving, we pulled up to our hotel room with 5 exhausted kids in tow, in Orlando, FL. We walked in and the water had been left on in the tub and it was overflowing, there were dead cockroaches on the floor, the bed was unmade and there were horrid stains on the mattress, the sheets were rumbled and tossed on the bed and didn't even look clean. I think the last person there just left them all rumpled and half pulled-off from their stay. We got the heebie-geebies so bad that we had to all get back in the car and try to find another place to stay!

My worst hotel experience had to be last year when I stayed at a chain motel in Atlanta, GA. The room came equipped with a crack pipe, the toilet had been used and not flushed, and the bed had the distinctive makeup face print of the previous woman who'd slept there!

During college I was on a trip to Nice, France. Seven of my friends and I traveled through Europe and found ourselves in the French Riviera during one of their busiest times of the year. We didn't arrive until 11:00 pm so the pickins' were slim on a room and we all ended up having to bunk together. We drew straws to see who got to sleep in a real bed and who had to sleep on the floor. Should have been the other way around! When we pulled back the bedspread the sheets were covered with matted hair, mysterious stains and greasy spots, UGH! There was no bathroom, just a toilet that was right next to the bed and it would not flush and was filled to the brim. If anyone had been brave enough to sleep in that bed and accidentally flung an arm out it would have ended up in that mess! 8 years have gone by yet the horror of that has never faded.

I was in a motel with my fiance in Glen Allen, VA for the NASCAR races and we had to stay in a small motel in a really dark scary neighborhood (Bates Motel, anyone?) and that should have been our first warning. As soon as we entered the room is reaked of smoke and trash. I looked down and the carpet was filthy, the walls needed paint and were moldy. We had food with us so I opened the little fridge and almost threw up from the stench that wafted out. I was so exhausted that I just pulled back the comfortor to get ready for bed but screamed when a cockroach ran around on the sheets! I ran out of that room as fast as I could and we spent over 2 hours trying to find another room, but there was no way I was sleeping in that pit.
